In wake of all the decisive rhetoric of the Evangelical’s choice for President; where are they NOW?
Not one word of rebuke, check or correction for this President’s behavior, prejudice, hatred toward immigrants; lack of compassion for the loss of life from acts of terrorism; raids to separate children from their parents; and, the unlawful imprisonment of children and parents, coming to America for asylum on our Nation’s borders.
Why are they so silent? Is their silence, their form of consent for this Administration’s actions? Let me be the first to say, this kind of behavior cannot be condoned or sanctioned by any person confessing “faith in Christ.”
Jesus said: “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men,” Matthew 5:13.
These religious groups and all their leadership, has lost their savor, they are good for nothing; but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. They are no longer the “Light of the world… a city sent on a hill (that) cannot be hid,” Matthew 5:14-15.
When will these religious leaders “Stand Up For Jesus?” And speak out against the President and his Administration’s hatred and bigotry toward immigrants and people of color? Is this the policy and actions you want from the President of the United States? If not, speak out!
Are you claiming to be the “voice of the Lord?” Remember the prophet Jeremiah: “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay (contain),” Jeremiah 20:9.
It’s time to speak for the Lord. It’s time to call for true repentance, for such behaviors (theirs and yours), Luke 13:3-5; Acts 17:30-31.
As always, I appreciate your feedback. At the end of this post, or at ronald-e-freeman@wwmchurchofchrist.org.
In His Name and Service,
Ron Freeman, Evangelist
